Today's Thought - Maybe several days



God promises to give us strength to meet challenges, but He doesn't promise to eliminate them. Who do you call upon during your time of need? Yourself or God? God does not leave us alone with our challenges, instead He stands beside us, teaches us, and strengthens us to face them.

"As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him. It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect."
-Psalm 18:30-32



Our lives are cluttered with rule books and self-help books, but the authors never come with us to help us. But God does. This is the uniqueness of our Bible. God not only provides the guidelines, but comes with us personally each day to strengthen us so that we can live according to those rules. All we must do is invite Him and respond to His direction. The Bible is your operation manual. It includes a preventative maintenance schedule and outlines what to expect when you make wrong decisions and right decisions.

"Let me understand the teaching of your precepts; then I will meditate on your wonders. My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word."
-Psalm 119:27-28



Would you change the way you live if someone was standing beside you 24/7? Would you replace those bad habits with good habits? Those little secrets in our life would no longer be secrets. We would instantly have the ability to make the right decisions, making sure that others come first. Yes, it is true, someone is there 24/7.

"O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, You know how I live. Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O LORD, You know it all."
-Psalm 139:1-4



Often the desire for more or better possessions is really a longing to fill an empty place in your life. To what are you drawn when you feel empty inside? How can you find true contentment? The answer lies in your perspective, your priorities, and your source of power.

"...I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength ."
-Philippians 4:12-13



Winning a race requires purpose and discipline. Your success in life depends upon purpose and discipline. The Christian life takes hard work, self-denial, and grueling preparation. Without a goal, discipline is nothing but self-punishment. Pleasing God should be your goal.

"I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize."
-1 Corinthians 9:22



Don't let discouragement over apparent failure keep you from working. Failure sets you up for success.  Do the good that you have opportunity to do, knowing that your work will have eternal results.

"Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."
-1 Corinthians 15:58



A blameless life is far more valuable than wealth. Do your actions show that you sacrifice your integrity to increase your wealth? If you really care about yourself you will seek wisdom.

"Better a poor man whose walk is blameless than a fool whose lips are perverse."
-Proverbs 19:1



Do you find yourself, occasionally, stretching the truth for personal gain? Do you compromise your integrity in order to get ahead? People embrace the truth and are drawn to it. Success is stable based on truth.

"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."
-2 Timothy 2:15



It is human nature to hide our wrong doings or overlook our mistakes. It is very hard to learn from a mistake you don't admit making. Mistakes are how we learn. To learn from your mistake you must admit it, confess it, analyze it, and make adjustments so that it doesn't happen again. This is one of the major keys to success. Ask, why did I fail the last time? What adjustments should I make in order to prevent failure?

"He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy."
-Proverbs 28:13
"
He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe."
-Proverbs 28:26



Do you ever find yourself giving good sound advice to others, but you do not follow the same advice? Have you ever scribbled out a good plan for success but did not follow it? This is the result of laziness and fear of failure.

"He who works his land will have abundant food, but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment." -Proverbs 12:11

"All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty." -Proverbs 14:23



When you are faced with a decision which appears to have no clear right or wrong, search your heart. Determine your motive - is your decision self seeking or will your decision help others?

"All men's ways seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the heart." -Proverbs 21:2



What we put into our minds determines what comes out in our words and actions. Program your mind with pure thoughts. In order to break a bad habit we must replace it with a good habit. If there is something you do not like about yourself simply reverse the process. Developing Godly habits builds Character.

"...whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things." -Philippians 4:8




Are you content in any circumstances you face? Do you have great needs, or are you discontented because you don't have what you want? God will supply ALL your needs, but in a way that He knows is best for you.

"I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.- And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus"
- Philippians 4:13 & 19




Sometimes we think that struggles caused by our own bad choices are not God's concern, but when we turn to God in repentance, He will bear the weight even of those struggles.

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast ALL your anxiety on Him because He cares for you."
- 1 Peter 5:6-7




This new year make it a point to seek wisdom. We tend to hear what we want to hear, even if an enemy is the only one who will say it. A friend's advice, no matter how painful, is much better. Those who care for you will tell you the truth.

"Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses ."
- Proverbs 27:6




When confronted with verbal attacks, the best defense is simply to be quiet and praise God, realizing that our confidence is in His love and faithfulness. In times of great suffering, don't turn inward to self-pity or outward to revenge, but upward to God.

"They spread a net for my feet - I was bowed down in distress. They dug a pit in my path - but they have fallen into it themselves."
- Psalm 57:6




One of the secrets of a close relationship with God is to pray to Him earnestly each morning. You can commit the whole day to God. This communication is necessary for a strong relationship with God.

"In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation."
- Psalm 5:3




If you walk by your own light and reject God's, you become self-sufficient, and the result of self-sufficiency is torment. Are you there? Are you headed there?

"All you who light fires and provide yourselves with flaming torches, go, walk in the light of your fires and of the torches you have set ablaze. This is what you shall receive from my hand: You will lie down in torment."
- Isaiah 50:11




Who rules over your prosperity and disasters? You know both types of experiences, and both are needed for you to grow. When good times come, thank God and use your prosperity for Him. When bad times come, don't become angry and bitter, but ask what you can learn from this experience to make you a better servant of God and fulfill your purpose.

"I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the Lord, do all these things."
-Isaiah 45:7




Realizing that life is short helps us use the little time we have more wisely for eternal good. Take time to number your days and think of what you wish to accomplish. What step could you take today toward your purpose? Because your days are numbered, you want your work to count, to be effective and productive.

"Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."
-Psalm 90:12




God's work involves many different individuals with a variety of gifts and abilities. There are no superstars in this task. We can become useful for God by setting aside our desires to receive glory for what we do. Don't seek the praise that comes from people - it is comparatively worthless. Instead, seek approval from God.

"The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor.."
-1 Corinthians 3:8




Nothing can be hidden from God. He knows about everyone everywhere, and everything about us is wide open to His all-seeing eyes. God sees all we do and knows all we think. Even when we are unaware of His presence, He is there. We can have NO secrets from God.

"Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account."
-Hebrews 4:13




To those who don't believe in God, life on earth is all there is, and so it is natural for them to strive for this world's values - money, popularity, power, pleasure, and prestige. You were born for a specific purpose, an exciting and joyful purpose. This purpose can only be revealed to you through God. Want joy in your life? Seek God' purpose and will for your life.

"I eagerly expect and hope that i will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death."
-Philippians 2:20




Taking Christ out of Christmas, what is this all about? Christmas is the birth of the Greatest Story Ever Told, the Greatest News to every man, woman and child. God has given us free will which allows us to accept Him or reject Him. So many times being politically correct can be dangerously incorrect. As you read this take a deep breath and thank God for the oxygen that allows you to carry on. Jesus Christ is the reason for the season!

"He is before ALL things, and in Him ALL things hold together"
-Colossians 1:17




Many people think that riches will bring happiness and solve all their problems. Don't fall into this trap, you will be caught in an endless cycle that ends in ruin and destruction. Love people more than money and freely share what you have with others. Be content with what you have and strive to achieve God's purpose and will in your life.

"Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil..."
-1 Timothy 6:6-10




In trying to persuade people, you may be tempted to alter your position just enough to make your message more acceptable. Your presentation should be altered to be appropriate to the situation, but the truth and will of God must never be compromised.

"We are not trying to please men but God, who tests our hearts. You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed - God is our witness. We were not looking for praise from men..."
-1 Thessalonians 2:4-6




You DO have a purpose in this life, a specific purpose. The secret to finding and fulfilling this purpose is to submit to God's control and let Him work. God has NOT left you alone in your struggles, you have left Him alone.

"...for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose."
-Philippians 2:27




Love is more important than knowledge. Knowledge can make us look good and feel important, but we can all too easily develop an arrogant, know-it-all attitude. Many people with strong opinions are unwilling to listen and to learn from others. We can obtain God's knowledge ONLY by loving Him.

"We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. The man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know. But the man who loves God is known by God."
-1 Corinthians 8:1-3




The words you speak can instantly build upon or destroy a relationship. When speaking to your family, friends and even customers choose your words carefully. If you must point out a mistake to someone, end the conversation with a praise. Your influence, your words can change a life!

"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."
-Ephesians 4:29




Real love is an action, not a feeling. It produces selfless, sacrificial giving. The greatest act of love is giving oneself to others. The greatest gift you can give your family and loved ones is your time, yourself, not lavish gifts. You might say, "I would die for my family", fine, but are you living for your family.

"This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?"
-1 John 3:16-17




In today's world, people most often covet financial gain. Money represents power, influence, and success. Money becomes our God. But far more valuable than wealth is obedience to God, this is of eternal value. We should do what God wants, regardless of the financial implications.

"Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word"
-Psalm 119:36-37




Wisdom is a gift from God. But because He gives it only to those who earnestly seek it, God's wisdom will be hidden from the prideful know-it-all. It takes effort to find wisdom and use it. When you are on the path, you discover that true wisdom is God's and that He will guide you and reward your sincere and persistent search.

"...if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God."
-Proverbs 2:3-5




When you are making a decision that the right choice is difficult to discern you need to identify your motive. Is your decision based strictly on personal gain or will it help others? Will your values be compromised as a result of this decision? Will you be proud to discuss your decision with others as a bit of wisdom.

"All men's ways seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the heart. To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice"
-Proverbs 21:2-3




The self-reliant neither gives nor asks advice. We were not designed to be self-reliant. Wise council is necessary for your growth and well being. You cannot know the future and cannot predict the consequences of your choices with certainty. The self-reliant person is doomed to failure. The wise person depends on God.

"He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe."
-Proverbs 28:26




We tend to think that we are in control of our own lives. We need to be careful about the input we allow to form our beliefs. We can easily be influenced by friends, family, enemies, news media that can change our direction, that can ultimately control our lives. The only truth can be found in God's Holy word. Evaluate all other opinions in light of its teachings.

"They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator - who is forever praised."
-Romans 1:25




It's hard to stay focused when we are trying to get ahead. Many times we chase dreams and fall further behind. God has given each of us talents and the opportunity to seek Him in all our endeavors. What are you good at, what do you enjoy, what can you do that will help others the most? Your God given talents will provide. Be cautious in stepping into areas that you know little about.

"He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty."
-Proverbs 28:19




God instructs us to give thanks in ALL circumstances. That can really be tough. Remember He says IN ALL circumstances not FOR ALL circumstances. God goes on the say that this is His will. So, if we are not giving thanks in ALL circumstances we are outside God's will. If you will allow God to handle your circumstances great things will happen. Remember, trials in your life are "pain with a purpose."

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in ALL circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
-1 Thessalonians 5:16-18




Greed is the influence of bad decisions. Greed causes us to compromise right to wrong. Greed is that burning desire to have what we want not what we need. Notice the scripture does NOT say Money is the root of all evil.

"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil..."
-1 Timothy 6:10




God does not listen to our prayers if we intend to go back to our sin as soon as we get off our knees. God knows your intent. It's not the sin that closes God's ears, but your secret intention to do it again.

"If anyone turns a deaf ear to the law, even his prayers are detestable. He who leads the upright along an evil path will fall into his own trap, but the blameless will receive a good inheritance."
-Proverbs 28:9-10




We all seek happiness. The problem is that happiness depends on what is happening at the time. You should seek joy. Joy comes with peace and comfort in all situations. Joy is achieved when you seek God's purpose in your life. As you seek God's purpose He freely gives you wisdom in choosing right from wrong. God' Word, the Holy Bible, is the ONLY self-help book you will ever need.

"...you will understand what is right and just and fair - every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you."
-Proverbs 2:9-11




Sometimes we don't let people get to know us completely because we are afraid they will discover something about us that they won't like. God already knows everything about us. God is with us through every situation, in every trial - protecting, loving, guiding. He knows and loves us completely and unconditionally.

"You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with ALL my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord ."
-Psalm 139:3-4




What's up? God says He will give me the desires of my heart.  Why are so many of my prayers not answered? How many times have you asked this question?  Psalms 37:4 says "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart". This is the key - Delight yourself in the Lord means to commit everything you have and do to Him.  As you do this your desires will become His desires. You will experience great pleasure and joy in His presence. We tend to pray for our wants, but God gives according to our needs. God desires the very best in our lives - Trust Him!

"...if we ask anything according to His will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of Him."
-1 John 5:14-15




With all the problems and concerns a manager has, it can be easy to overlook the very people who most deserve attention. Be sure that in all your worrying, planning, and organizing, you don't forget the people who are helping you the most.

"He who tends a fig tree will eat its fruit, and he who looks after his master will be honored."
-Proverbs 27:18




It's true, ALL the answers to your questions about life are in God's word. God even tells us when to build or buy a home (Proverbs 24:27 listed below). The Holy Scripture is your operating manual. If you study God's word and obey His instructions His purpose and will for your life will be accomplished and you will be blessed beyond your imagination.

"Finish your outdoor work and get your fields ready; after that, build your house."
-Proverbs 24:27




Every decision produces a consequence. Some good, some not so good. Choosing what is right in the sight of God is a protective shield. Making a decision for short term profit can turn into long term disaster and loss of credibility.  Choose what is right and you can't go wrong.

"...but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm."
-Proverbs 1:33




Attitude is a choice. If your circumstance cause your attitude to turn south this was a choice you made. Your circumstance is one matter, but what really counts is how you handle the circumstance. Your choice of a bitter attitude will cause others to question your character and integrity. Allows remember that adversity is used for development. So, become better not bitter. It's your choice!

"A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."
-Proverbs 15:1

When we face hardship and discouragement, it is easy to lose sight of the big picture.  Remember this life as you know it is temporary. You are not alone. Suffering is the training ground for dependence upon God. Only He knows what is best for you.

"Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father."
-Hebrews 12:7




We live in a world where good behavior is not always rewarded and bad behavior not always punished. Innocent people sometimes suffer. If God took suffering away whenever we asked, we would follow Him for comfort and convenience, not out of love and devotion. During your adversity ask God to equip you to fulfill His purpose and will in your life. Remember that ALL adversity if for development!

"[a man blind from birth and healed by Jesus] ...but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life."
-John 9:3




ALL adversity is for development. Adversity prepares you for the next step in your life. Adversity prepares you for your purpose in this temporary venue. If you become bitter as a result of adversity you will go in circles. If you seek God's purpose for your adversity you will be amazed at the outcome. As you pursue your goals you face adversity, yet it is ALL worthwhile when you accomplish your goal.

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance."
-James 1:2-3




When we have an important decision to make, we sometimes feel that we can't trust anyone. We must trust God, He knows what is best for us. He knows our needs much better than we do. God gives us the ability to reason when we seek Him.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight."
-Proverbs 3:5-6




If you don't want to learn, years of schooling will teach you very little. But if you want to be taught, there is no end to what you can learn. Life is a great opportunity for gaining knowledge. Your attitude in this opportunity determines the depth and direction of your life.

"Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid."
-Proverbs 12:1

Many times we are tempted to compromise our position just enough to make our message to people a little more pleasing. Remain strong in what is right and express yourself in a kind and gentle manner. Do not compromise!

"...we are not trying to please men but God, who tests our hearts."
-1 Thessalonians 1:4




Can you imagine never worrying again. We all have worries; finances, family, homes - remember you are not in this alone. Turn your worries into prayers.  What we put into our minds determines what comes out in our words and actions.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
-Philippians 4:6-7




Carrying your worries, stresses, and daily struggles by yourself shows that you have not trusted God fully with your life. Don't submit to circumstances, but to God who controls circumstances.

"Cast ALL your anxiety on Him because He cares for you"
-1 Peter 5:7




Selfish ambition can ruin a relationship, but genuine humility can build it. Being humble involves having a true perspective about yourself. Thinking more of others is the key.

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves"
-Philippians 2:3




The secret to a fulfilled and changed life is to submit to God's control and let Him work in you and through you. Do what God wants and trust Him to change your desires.

"for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose" -Philippians 2:13




Are your goals focused on you or others? You will find that focusing on others is much more fulfilling than focusing on yourself. In the business world if you truly concentrate on achieving the needs and desires of others you will be highly successful. Also you will gain a reputation of good character and integrity.

"Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; someone else, and not your own lips" -Proverbs 27: 2




Are you living on purpose or just existing? What will be the contribution of your life (how will you make a difference)? It is NOT important what others think of you, it is VITAL what God thinks of you. God has equipped you to make a difference - now it's your choice.

"...I urge you to live worthy of the calling you have received."
-Ephesians 4:1




Problems build character. That special message that God has given each of us usually derives from the problems in our life, how we handled the problem, what did we learn from the problem. Problems truly become great opportunities for increasing our wisdom. Wisdom allows us to become better not bitter. Others can gain much wisdom from your message.

"Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is."
-Ephesians 5:15-17




All of our God given abilities are to be used to serve others, help others and encourage others. Your abilities are not for your own exclusive enjoyment.

"Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms."
-1 Peter 4:9-10




God has given each one of us a special message to share with others. Your message is different than my message. The message is from your life's lessons. Others can gain much widsom from your message. Your message can change lives.

"...always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect..."
-1 Peter 3:15




Your life goal should be doing what last forever, not what is temporary. Focusing on personal gain alone is distructive, it is short lived. If you focus on God's purpose for your life He will provide and those things He wills you to do will live forever.

"Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain."
-Psalm 119:36




God has never been impressed with our strengths He works through our weakness. We limit God's power in our lives when we do not admit our weaknesses.  Strength causes competition, weakness causes community.

"...My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
-2 Corinthians 12:9a




Why do we do what we do? Do you spend most of your life doing things for personal gain? Our motive controls our destiny. Why we do it is much more important than what we do. Don't think less of yourself, think of yourself less.

"Seek first God's kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
-Matthew 6:33-34




Do you honor your commitments? Even your smallest promises, to your children, to your spouse, to your business associates. Others know who you really are by what you do.

"Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much." - Luke 16:10




Don't focus on the problem, focus on the solution. It's not our circumstances that get us down, it's our thinking of the circumstances. Negative thoughts will create bad decisions. Remember, our God is MUCH bigger than our problems.

"I can do ALL things through Him who strengthens me ." - Philippians 4:13




We ALL have been given special gifts. We recognize these gifts by analyzing what we are good at, what we enjoy doing. Make a list of your top 5 talents - what you are best at doing and what you enjoy most from these talents. Now, how can you help others through these talents. Remember, this life is NOT about You, it's about others.

"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms."
-1 Peter 4:10




It is also our purpose on this earth to do what is right. Many times we are led to deceive for personal gain. This gain is temporary.

"A faithful man will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished."
-Proverbs 28:20




Our purpose on this earth is to serve others. Sound boring, sound like something you are not interested in? The only way to truly have fulfillment in your life is to help others. When we learn to love and to serve, our life takes on eternal importance. It is not important how long we live, but how we live!  You were given special talents, use them to help others.

"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
-Ephesians 2:10




If we lived each day as though it were our last we would find that things (stuff) are of little importance. You would realize that everyone you come in contact with would give you one last chance to encourage them and leave them with a smile.  You would tend to get things in order. You would express your love more freely. The problems in your life would seem so minor.  Mends would be made. Reconciliation would take place. The past would no longer haunt you. Every moment would be precious and planned. Your prayers would become real.  Sounds like a great way to live! Try it just for 1 day and see what a difference it makes.

"Seek first God's kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

In the midst of our problems, many times, it is not all that comforting when someone tells you that they will pray for you.  The fact is that our strength does come from our creator.  Our problems become an opportunity to draw closer to God.  This is the time to focus on the only true helper we have.  Remember God redirects our lives through our circumstances.  Don't miss this opportunity.

"I can do ALL things through Him who strengthens me ." - Philippians 4:13




Happiness in our life depends on what is happening. If things are going good we are happy, if they are going bad we are unhappy. Joy is eternal. Joy overcomes unhappiness. Joy is based on our relationship with God. Remember, if we believe that God is in control, the problems we endure have a purpose. Choose Joy!

"Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him." - James 1:12




There is a purpose behind EVERY problem. Many become bitter rather than better as a result of lifes problems. Remember, your pain is temporary.

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." - Romans 8:28




Focus on the good things. We already know how to focus, when you worry you are focused. Focus on a positive future. Remember that God can change a bad situation into a good situation in an instant.

"..."If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."." -John 8:31-32




Every thought is followed with an action, good or bad. The way you think determines how you feel. You can control your attitude and actions through your thought life.

"...but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." -Romans 12:2b




In order to break a bad habit we must replace it with a good habit. If there is something you do not like about yourself simply reverse the process. Developing Godly habits builds Character.

"...whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things." -Philippians 4:8




Don't put a question mark where God has placed a period. Many times we are consumed by the thoughts of, why did God do this? or why did God allow this? God answers our questions in His word and He shapes our lives in ways that we do not understand.

"Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand." -Isaiah 41:10




If you are going to go forward you MUST quit looking backward. Many times things from the past prevent us from moving on with our life. What is done is done, learn from it do NOT dwell on it.

"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us." -Romans 8:18




A humble attitude is NOT thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less.

"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." -Ephesians 4:29




It is discouraging to continue to do right and receive no word of thanks or see no tangible results. Remember, as we trust God for the results, in due time, we will reap a harvest of blessings.

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
-Galatians 6:9




We are called to real and sincere love that goes far beyond pretense and politeness. Sincere love requires concentration and effort. it means helping others become better people. It demands our time, money, and personal involvement.

"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves."
-Romans 12:9-10




You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving. Relationships are a top priority in our lives. When we are on our death bed we will NOT want to be surrounded by the money and objects we have accumulated, but by those who love us. Don't just make time for those you love, freely give your time. Your time is the best expression of your love.

"...serve one another in love. ..."Love your neighbor as yourself."
-Galatians 5:23




The rich and poor have one similarity; when they die, they leave all they own here on earth. The only riches we have at that time are those we have already invested in our eternal heritage. This is a good time to check up on your investments and see where you have invested the most. Then do whatever it takes to place your investments where they really count!

"For all can see that wise men die; the foolish and the senseless alike perish and leave their wealth to others."
-Psalm 49:10




It is human nature to make our own plans and then ask God to bless them. Instead, we should seek God's will first.

"I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me." -Psalm 16:7




When you are uncertain about what to do in any situation, ask yourself which course of action best demonstrates my love for God and my love for others. A self-centered life CANNOT truly praise God. We will find ourselves thanking God (selfishly) in good times and questioning God's love and ability in bad times.

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." -Mark 12:30




Personal success comes from the heart not the head. Reaching out to others in time of need should become your lifestyle.

"Come near to God and he will come near to you..." -James 4:8




When a problem overwhelms you; illness, finances, wayward children... remember you are not alone. If you look for council and guidance in the right places, hope will appear.

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." -Isaiah 41:3




We are free to choose who or what controls our life. Remember, nothing under God's control is EVER out of control.

"Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart." -Psalms 37:4




The heartbreaking stories continue to roll in hour after hour concerning the Katrina victims. It makes my problems appear so small. Count your blessings and pray for those families that see no hope.

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit."
- Psalm 147:3-5




To be established means to be successful. Real success comes only to those who do what is right. Their efforts stand the test of time.

"A man cannot be established through wickedness, but the righteous cannot be uprooted." - Proverbs 12:3

 




Our thoughts and prayers should be with those that were in the path of Katrina. It's hard to understand why these devastating events take place, but it has all been foretold. We tend to ask ourselves, "what good could come of this?" Many lives will be touched, many lives will be changed.

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." - Romans 8:28

 




The problems you are having today did not come to stay, they came to pass.

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." - 2 Corinthians 4:18

 




Life is a test (all of life), even the simplest things - Life is a trust, all we have is God given. When we are gone all our possessions will be given to someone else. Integrity is not a gift, it's a choice.

"Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much." - Luke 16:10

 




Fear and Faith are both very strong powers that influence our lives. Fear tends to set us back while Faith moves us forward. Remember, the thoughts you have are a choice YOU make. If you think you can't, your right. If you think you can, your right.

"The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever." - 1 John 2:17

 




The greatest fear is not death it's life without a purpose!

 



Priorities are very important. We should carry out our work in its proper order. If a businessman invests his money in a house while his business is struggling to grow, he may lose both.

"Finish your outdoor work and get your fields ready; after that, build your house." - Proverbs 24:13



Do less in life and achieve MUCH more by focusing on your purpose.

"It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for...." -Ephesians 1:11 (Msg)



A man stands tallest when he is on his knees.

"Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand." -Isaiah 41:10



A mistake is only a mistake if you don't learn from it. How you handle the trials that come your way establishes your credibility. Your credibility is more important than your product/service.

"...but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm." -Proverbs 2:33



Not making a decision is a decision. You are choosing to deal with the consequences of not deciding. Decisions must be made based on wisdom, knowledge and doing the right thing. Your credibility is worth more than gold!

"Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed." -Proverbs 15:22



It's NOT our circumstances that drag us down, it's the thoughts that we have about our circumstances that weaken us. Negative thinking can destroy and negative thinking is a choice we make.



Have you ever noticed that, even though we know the steps to accomplish our goal, many times we go a different direction.

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." -Proverbs 16:3

Searching for significance is a major part of everyone's life. That's the way God made us. The secret is found in concentrating on the needs of others rather than money, power and fame for ourselves.

Wisdom - the ability to make wise decisions in difficult circumstances.

If you worship self, things or power - the next time you really need help, pray to them and see what happens.

The task ahead of you is never greater than the power behind you.

Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs (with God's Instruction) built the ark, professionals (without God's Instruction) built the Titanic.

Have you given God total control or temporary control?

People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care! Be honest with yourself, how much do you really care?

"..What do you have that God hasn't given you? And if all you have is from God, why boast as though you have accomplished something on your own?" -1 Corinthians 4:7



Like it or not you influence others everyday, in a good way or a bad way. When others watch you do they desire to be like you?

Success is defined as: The achievement of something desired or planned.

Gaining wisdom is a daily process of choosing between two paths - Right or Wrong. Nothing else is more important or more valuable.

1. Planning for Success is - Plan your daily work and work your daily plan. The true key to success is helping others become successful. EVERYONE desires to feel important. Give your customers MORE than they expect (or your employer). You will gain a reputation of high character and integrity and others will be drawn to you. This should be #1 in your plan.

"Seek first God's kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

2. LISTEN: The customer will freely give you their priority list; quality, quick delivery, long term support, price, etc. When we talk too much and listen too little, we communicate to others that we think our ideas are much more important than theirs.

Your success depends on what others think of you, not what you think of yourself.

"Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry."
-James 1:19

3. TIME MANAGEMENT: Procrastination is one of the top reasons for failure. Make a list each day of those things that must be accomplished. Establish your daily minimum requirements.

"A sluggard does not plow in season; so at harvest time he looks but finds nothing." -Proverbs 20:4

4. FOCUS: Your long term goal is made up of short term daily goals. Focus and accomplish your daily minimum requirements. Chasing every opportunity is a sure way to fail. Your plan is a road map, DO NOT change directions!

"I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity" -Proverbs 8:17-18

5. BELIEVE: Thoughts of failure will occur EVERY DAY! Your thoughts control your actions - If you think you can't, you're right. If you think you can, you're right.

8. VISUALIZE: Don't lose sight of your goal - Don't get OFF track. Keep your goals in mind and expect that you will achieve them.

"Trust God for what is not as if it were until it becomes a reality."

9. DECISIVE: Not making a decision is a decision. You are choosing to deal with the consequences of not deciding. Decisions must be made based on wisdom, knowledge and doing the right thing. Your credibility is worth more than gold!

The World says, "Show me and I will believe you." God says, "Believe Me and I will Show YOU."



True peace is not found in positive thinking, in absence of conflict, or in good feelings. It comes from knowing that God is in control.



It's not about you.

The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness. It's far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by his purpose and for his purpose.

The most damaging aspect of contemporary living is short-term thinking. To make the most of your life, you must keep the vision of eternity continually in your mind and the value of it in your heart. God has a purpose behind every problem.

No one is immune to pain or insulated from suffering, and no one gets to skate through life problem-free. Life is a series of problems. Every time you solve one, another is waiting to take its place. Not all of them are big, but ALL are significant in God's growth process for you.

Nothing shapes your life more than the commitments you choose to make. Your commitments can develop you or they can destroy you, but either way, they will define you. Tell me what you are committed to, and I'll tell you what you will be in twenty years. We become whatever we are committed to.

To make the best use of your life, you must never forget two truths: First, compared with eternity, life is extremely brief. Second, earth is only a temporary residence. You won't be here long, so don't get too attached.

In order to keep us from becoming too attached to earth, God allows us to feel a significant amount of discontent and dissatisfaction in life - longings that will never be fulfilled on this side of eternity. We're not completely happy here because we're not supposed to be! Earth is not our final home.

- You were placed on this earth with a purpose.

Without a clear purpose you have no foundation on which you base decisions, allocate your time, and use your resources. The importance of things can be measured by how much time we are willing to invest in them. The more time you give to something, the more you reveal its importance and value to you. If you want to know a person's priorities, just look at how they use their time.

Time is your most precious gift because you only have a set amount of it. You can make more money, but you can't make more time. When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life. Your time is your life. That is why the greatest gift you can give someone is your time. Nothing can take the place of time.

Busyness is a great enemy of relationships. We become preoccupied with making a living, doing our work, paying bills, and accomplishing goals as if these tasks are the point of life. They are NOT. The point of life is learning to love - God and people. Life minus love equals ZERO.
